Kenny Klimes – Bio

KENNY KLIMES

Kenny is a flyfisher, a fly fishing instructor and leader of the Flyfishers at The Crossing (FATC); a men’s fly fishing fellowship in the St. Louis area.

Growing up in Chicago, Kenny developed his love for fishing on trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin for Musky, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Large and Smallmouth Bass. He bought his first fly rod in 1970 – a fiberglass Fenwick rod. He has been fly fishing seriously for the past 40 years for all species of fish especially trout in Alaska, Canada, the Rocky Mountains, Smokey mountains and of course, in Missouri where he now resides. He has been a fly fishing instructor for fifteen years teaching fly fishing (with a emphasis on trout species) as part of men’s ministry programs. Kenny started the Flyfishers at The Crossing in 2007 and it has grown to over 200 flyfishers (www.FlyfishersatTheCrossing.org).  His passion for fly fishing gives rise to a unique teaching style that gives men the knowledge to fly fish anywhere in the world and be successful, while at the same time bringing them together in community. Kenny is a recently retired Captain for Southwest Airlines (21 years). A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he served twenty years in the Air Force as a fighter pilot. Kenny has three children. Sorry St. Louis, he is a die-hard Cubs fan!
