This IS our most effective midge larva pattern/color by far!

Midge patterns are an essential part to any fly fishermen’s box.  Nearly every river in the world has midges present year round and fish are almost always willing to eat a correctly presented midge.  At times, fish will give up their pursuits for these small bugs and focus on something larger, but it is always a good guess to start the day off with midges until you see something else going on in the river.

  1. This is the number one fly in my fly box. It works all year round and is awesome in the winter when other aquatic insects are not hatching. We took this fly to Yellowstone and the Rainbows, Browns, and Cutthroats couldn’t resist it! Thanks Woolly Bugger!!

  2. Favorite midge all time!! I fish streams in Missouri and you can always count on midges year round. If there isn’t a hatch occurring I will ALWAYS go with the P&P first. Typically fish close to bottom in deeper runs with some additional weight based on the flow and getting it down to where the fish are sooner. However I have also had a lot of success in shallow riffles. I have a quarter of one of fly boxes filled with P&P’s.

  3. Trout Spanker

If you midge or Euro nymph fish you should try these. My goto midges are always the Primrose & Pearl and Zebra Midge.
